Devon group usually meet at 7:30pm on the 4th Thursday of the month at Birdwood House, 44 High Street, Totnes TQ9 5SQ; N. Devon group at 7:30pm on the 1st Wednesday at Fremington Parish Hall annexe, Higher Road, Fremington, EX31 3BG near Barnstaple, and Plymouth on 4th Thursday in month at Swarthmore Centre on Mutley Plain, Plymouth. Other eventsExeter's Café Scientifique takes place on the first Monday of every month at The Pitcher and Piano, on the junction of Queens Street and Gandy Street at 8:30 pm, unless stated otherwise. Events are free but space is limited to the numbers of seats and standing room at the bar. See the Café Scientifique website for details and the latest information. Plymouth's SciBAr provides the opportunity for anyone to listen to and participate in an informal, relaxed discussion on scientific issues over a drink in the Café Les Jardin De Bagatelle, Old Town Street, Plymouth. The sciBAr is organised by the local branch of the British Association for the Advancement of Science and the Faculty of Science at the University of Plymouth. See the SciBAr website for details of events normally on the first Tuesday of the month. (see also Exeter branch of the BA.) Some of us meet on Wednesday evenings to view the film at the Exeter Phoenix Art Centre – usually around 8pm, but see the Phoenix programme for details. The Global Centre runs a lunch time discussion group on world affairs every Thursday 1-2pm at Exeter Community Centre, 17 St. David's Hill. They also run a book club which meets monthly on a Wednesday 7-9pm. 2010
