This very readable book deals with the original ideas that led to modern humanism, from the Greeks through to the Enlightenment and beyond. It goes on to discuss present day issues such as climate change and faith schools. The book would be useful for anyone who wants to find out about humanism for the first time and also for humanists to re-visit their own ideas about the relevance of humanism for today.

There is a useful glossary of terms at the end as well as a book list and a list of web-sites.
