Atheist Leader Gets Backing

Humanists in Devon have welcomed the declaration from new Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg that he is an atheist. Devon Humanists chairman Peter Astwood said: "Devon Humanists is not a party political organisation, but the statement from the new Liberal Democrat leader is very welcome.

"It is not only a clear indication of the basic changes that are taking place in our culture but an example to other political parties, riddled with endless allegations of sleaze, that honesty is perhaps the best policy."
